Wikipedia:Requests for page protection

Page semi-protected
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
(Redirected from Wikipedia:RFP)
Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Current requests for increase in protection level

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Place requests for new or upgrading pending changes, semi-protection, full protection, move protection, create protection, template editor protection, or upload protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

    - AVYSZ (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs) Reason: High level of IP vandalism and potential dispute due to brand sensitivity. Protection level: Semi-protection ```

Reason: Addition of unsourced content by multiple IPs, violation of WP:FUTURE. M S Hassan 📬✍🏻 05:49, 26 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Repeated disruptions in the infobox for most of this month, possibly even before that, which are consistently reverted, plus consistent edit-warring from IPs over the last two days: [1], [2], [3], [4], [5], [6], [7], [8], [9]. The repeated appearance of new accounts, some only active for short periods to edit almost exclusively this article, also suggests possible sockpuppet activity. R Prazeres (talk) 05:57, 26 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Repeated deletion of players from the squad section, even though they are part of the club's UCL squad IronMaximus (talk) 06:47, 26 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason:: Persistent block evasion by Kelowantopdog. Please see Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Kelownatopdog. This is about the fourth or fifth time that this article in the last year has been the subject of block evasion by Kelownatopdog. No sooner does the protection expire, then he goes back to his block evasion, so if possible can this article be protected for a lengthy period of time. Thank you for your help and time. --A.S. Brown (talk) 08:55, 26 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – One of those pages subject to perennial obnoxious tinkering for the sake of some Wikipedia:Getting to Philosophy game or something. Remsense ‥  09:07, 26 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism, related to Yasuke (semi-protected for a year). Thibaut (talk) 09:20, 26 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Recent mass deletion of content by IPs. Lard Almighty (talk) 09:56, 26 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry. ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk) 11:38, 26 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent addition of unsourced or poorly sourced content – IP-hopping user persistently adding unsourced content under inane edit summaries - not responsive to warnings on their various talk pages. AntiDionysius (talk) 11:40, 26 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Reason: Addition of unsourced content and edit warring. M S Hassan 📬✍🏻 12:53, 26 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary full protection: Persistent vandalism – persistent but slow paced vandalism from an IP hopping individual. A few weeks of protection might deter them.  Velella  Velella Talk   12:57, 26 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    How about indefinite semi-protection 2600:100C:B03C:EDA6:61B1:AA3D:FE29:C58D (talk) 13:20, 26 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Indefinite extended confirmed protection Arbitration Enforcement, WP:PIA, and maybe WP:ARBEE. Protoeus (talk) 13:17, 26 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Persistent string of IP vandalism. Amigao (talk) 13:58, 26 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – There have been about a dozen vandalism edits (presumably from the same person, but different IPs) since April, claiming "homosexual" and "unnatural acts" done by the founders of the newspaper - seemingly in retaliation for publishing an article about misconduct done by the anonymous user's pastor (cf https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=The_Pillar&diff=prev&oldid=1221687233, https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=The_Pillar&diff=prev&oldid=1222861676, https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=The_Pillar&diff=prev&oldid=1221312142, et alia). ~Darth StabroTalk/Contribs 15:17, 26 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 15:19, 26 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Extended confirmed protection: BLP policy violations – Sporadic but persistent BLPVIOs. Woodroar (talk) 15:24, 26 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary full protection: Content dispute/edit warring – See history, IP is slow editwarring, please protect to encourage discussion. - FlightTime (open channel) 15:44, 26 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. Frost 16:32, 26 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: As the movie started premiering, IPs are found to adding unsourced content. Thewikizoomer (talk) 16:44, 26 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Agreed MNWiki845 (talk) 19:02, 26 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – An IP user keeps changing the URL in infobox when it is not even broken. 98𝚃𝙸𝙶𝙴𝚁𝙸𝚄𝚂 [𝚃𝙰𝙻𝙺] 16:56, 26 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Indefinite ECP Arbitration Enforcement Falls over WP:RUSUKR. Protoeus (talk) 17:37, 26 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite extended confirmed protection: Arbitration enforcement – This topic relates partly or fully with antisemitism as it pertains to the Arab-Israeli conflict. Especially with regards to this Washington Post article. Should be treated as such. Also Working definition of antisemitism should be ECP'd. Awesome Aasim 17:56, 26 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: IP's and brand new users keep changing the lead to emphasize the Persianness of this Arabic-language work, often implying it is in fact written in Persian. It has been discussed to death on the talk page but the IP's keep doing it without paying any attention to discussion. This is a long-term issue as can be seen by scrolling the page history.--Ermenrich (talk) 18:11, 26 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. Skitash (talk) 18:33, 26 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Reason: Indefinite ECP WP:RUSUKR and WP:ARBBLP. Protoeus (talk) 18:44, 26 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary protection: Persistent vandalism from LTA Yoshi24517 (Chat) (Very Busy) 20:04, 26 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Protection expired today and it was immediately vandalised by several IPs/accouts. Will need longer-term protection I'm afraid. Aszx5000 (talk) 22:05, 26 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for reduction in protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

@2D Is Better Than 3D: This page was protected under the auspices of a contentious topic (post-1992 politics of the United States) and cannot be unilaterally unprotected. Appeal the protection at WP:Arbitration/Requests/Enforcement or WP:Arbitration/Requests/Clarification and Amendment. —Jéské Couriano v^_^v threads critiques 03:36, 25 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry – More of this proxy nonsense again. This is really getting out of hand. 🛧Midori No Sora♪🛪 ( ☁=☁=✈) 22:28, 26 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.
