Talk:List of cities in Switzerland/Archive 1

The previous solution was somewhat similar to the letter pages on List_of_cities_in_ listing any city (municipality, town, etc.), this avoids me including them on list of country-related topics. The main cities are also on List of cities (a page often debated).
A new category feature (see test) may (soon?) make it sufficient to include a tag category:Place in Switzerland on the article, rather then make a list. BTW In other countries lists of all municipalities have been included: fi, es or se and be (both with stubs), de (on district templates).
Personally, I like solutions allowing me to find interesting articles about cities and towns, e.g. yours. -- User:Docu
If you look at the list of Germany, you may notice that it's not a comprehensive list of all places, it's all towns/cities. That's what I tried to do with the Swiss list, too. diwiki 10:29, 11 Sep 2003 (UTC)
It's not really comprehensive (I assume many more have articles), but it lists, e.g. Adelmannsfelden (Population: 1,807) Berglen (5,999) etc. -- User:Docu

Please don't remove famous towns from this list (Interlaken, St. Moritz). And why shouldn't the list include all towns -especially ones that already have articles written about them? Rmhermen 18:19, Sep 9, 2003 (EDT)

Yes, we should have links to each existing article on a town, unless there are so many that it is impractical, and we have to put the less important ones in the canton articles only. - Patrick 19:00, 9 Sep 2003 (EDT)
All fine. My point was that the title is 'List of cities and towns in Switzerland. Thus I think a seperate list of all places with articles would be a good idea, but not all places with an entry are a town/city. Also, maybe we should start a list with places (villages etc.) that have multiple names (de/fr/it/rm) diwiki 10:29, 11 Sep 2003 (UTC)
Until you set it up, you might just want to label the 3rd list, "list of cities, towns, villages, and resorts" to avoid any (unlikely) confusion. -- User:Docu

OK, we now have a list of the most populous cities (table) and a list at the bottom for anything: cities, towns, villages, resorts (table). I have moed back the items (Davos, Interlaken etc.). Hope everyone's happy with this. diwiki 16:58, 11 Sep 2003 (UTC)

What shall we do with the other removed ones: Meilen, Reichenau, Weiach, Renens? - User:Docu
We can put them back in the table at the bottom. Are there any more, or is it just the four? diwiki 21:45, 11 Sep 2003 (UTC)
