[edit]Well, the relatively mild policies mean less victims of mass executions and more expulsions, but I'm not sure how to explain it on the page. Halibutt 10:34, Jul 15, 2004 (UTC)
Removed Category
[edit]Is there any proof that Forster was gay? There is nothing in the article to support his inclusion in the Category:Lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender people.A.S. Brown 16:15, 18 August 2006 (UTC)
The Langer book mentioned in the article talks about some of Hitlers associates (unlike the Murray book) and Langer identifies Forster as a homosexual. The references for this are not easy to access, though. 2A00:23C7:E287:1901:606B:FDD0:B845:8D0D (talk) 17:37, 5 September 2022 (UTC)
Alleged Execution
[edit]Is the writer positive that Forster's death sentence was indeed carried out? I encountered a source (S. Herbert Levine) claiming that ultimately he was not executed and eventually released and lived out his final years in the vicinity of Gdansk.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 88.154.113.16 (talk • contribs) 01:58, 27 August 2006 (UTC)
I have replaced the statement that Forster was executed with the report apearing in Levine's article that He ultimately was not executed! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 88.155.23.113 (talk • contribs) 10:35, 22 October 2006 (UTC)
My account that Forster was ultimately not executed was deleted. I have now reinserted it. Unless some conclusive information contradicting Levine's account is presented, it should remain where it presently is. It should be pointed out that with the publication of his book: "Hitler's Free City" Levine has become a leading authority on Nazi era Danzig (or Gdansk, should we anachronisticalluy use the present day name as some here insist) and its gauleiter Albert Forster —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 88.154.199.168 (talk • contribs) 00:08, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
- More detail would be interesting on the matter of his being pardoned (and why he was pardoned - was it because of his relatively lenient treatment of the Poles compared to his Gauleiter neighbours?). If he was actually pardoned by the Poles, why was he then still executed by them?1812ahill (talk) 09:35, 7 October 2009 (UTC)
Sanitization
[edit]There is more than evidential proof that Forster was one of the parties guilty of the disappearence of the Jewish population under his jurisdiction. So, please stop to try to sanitize his image. If he was relatively good to the Polish population I would like to know the Polish perspective on this. It's clear to me that the omission of the Jewish people and the portrait of Forster as good to the Poles is an outrageous attempt to 'whitewash' his actual doings. Even the ridiculous assertion that he escaped execution is part of that attempt: the Poles let him live for he was their savior! Pathetic, to say the least. I want a Polish source, please. Herbert Levine is only ONE historian.
I will guard this page with attention.
Is the Picture Actually of Forster?
[edit]Looking at history listed for the photo there does not appear to be a clear provenance. It oddly claims Forster died in 1945. The picture looks a bit like Heydrich. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.30.202.20 (talk) 14:31, 15 October 2008 (UTC)
Marked some POV claims, minor neutrality changes
[edit]I marked some POV claims, mainly allegations that imply he was friendly to Poles and this was represented by other Nazis. Also minor neutrality changes regarding claims of territorial continuity.--Molobo (talk) 15:26, 30 November 2008 (UTC) }}

Poles and Jews extermination
[edit]I tagged the article for POV, as the vast majority of RSes distinguish between the Jewish holocaust and Nazi atrocities towards Polish elites and dissenters. Our article presently formulates the two as equivelant which raises WP:REDFLAG for me. The cited sources for this are all in Polish - do they support this assertion? Icewhiz (talk) 14:16, 3 March 2019 (UTC)
- Per WP:NOENG, please provide a quote of the supporting source, a translation, and justification as to why it is reliable. Icewhiz (talk) 17:38, 27 May 2019 (UTC)
The article does no such thing and the tag is absurd and spurious, as is your fallacious and bad faithed misinterpretation of WP:NOENG, as you are well aware, since it's been pointed out to you more than a dozen times, and your silly proposal to ban Polish sources from articles about... Polish history (funny how no one ever proposes banning, say, French, sources, from articles on French history), was laughed out of the ArbCom page.Volunteer Marek (talk) 04:49, 28 May 2019 (UTC)
- @Volunteer Marek: -- please provide supporting quotes, translations, and sources for
"the local non-German population of Poles and Jews was classified as sub-human and subjected to extermination campaign involving ethnic cleansing, mass murder, and forceful Germanisation.
and for the language in the section-lede of Albert Forster#Extermination and ethnic cleansing. Stating equivalence, in Nazi eyes, of Jews and Poles is rejected by mainstream scholarship. Furthermore, the content in our article is quite clearly false - as Jews were not subjected to "forceful Germanisation" anywhere in Europe, an in this particular region they were mostly killed outright in the beginning of the Nazi occupation. Icewhiz (talk) 08:13, 28 May 2019 (UTC)- That is a sentence in the lede, which does not need citation since it summarizes the text. The relevant citations in the main body for that particular info are 12 and 13.
- The article DOES NOT "state equivalence". It merely notes that Poles were exterminated too. This "equivalence" is in your own imagination. Are you seriously trying to dispute that Poles were targets of Nazi extermination plans?
- I reworded the part about forceful Germanization as that can be indeed be confusing.Volunteer Marek (talk) 08:25, 28 May 2019 (UTC)
- The Nazis also killed many Poles. The Nazis also had a goal to completely Germanize the area under Forster's control. However - this did not involve the aimed extermination of all Poles - but involved a combination of wide scale killing, deportation, and Germanization. This should be accurately described in a separate manner. Icewhiz (talk) 09:05, 28 May 2019 (UTC)
- It is described in this manner. Your quote itself shows that.Volunteer Marek (talk) 13:10, 28 May 2019 (UTC)
- No it is not, our present text ties "Poles and Jews" into a single category. Icewhiz (talk) 13:50, 28 May 2019 (UTC)
