Government documents are public domain? Says who? Brianjd 08:41, 2004 Dec 9 (UTC)

The very nature of them being created by public entities places almost all public documents in the public domain, with some exceptions (such as a state university publishing books, etc). Edwin 08:43, 9 Dec 2004 (UTC)

And where does this apply? My local government's website is definitely not public domain (I'm in Australia). Brianjd 08:44, 2004 Dec 9 (UTC)

Government pages in the US are almost always public domain Micah 08:47, 9 Dec 2004 (UTC)

This may be an American tradition, although from what I understand Canadian customs in this area are similar. This would lead me to think that this descends from Common Law, but your experience in the Commonwealth of Australia contradicts this. So I'd have to say that I don't really know except that the US and Canada generally share this principle, with some exception. Edwin 08:49, 9 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Since it is wrong to remove comments from others' talk pages, can you merge these comments into Talk:Eau Claire City Council#Copyvio? Brianjd 09:52, 2004 Dec 23 (UTC)

Thanks for your kind words. And thanks for helping improve the article. Tom - Talk 16:44, Dec 10, 2004 (UTC)

When you are ready

[edit]

When you get to the point where you think you are ready to be an admin, I'd be happy to nominate you. I don't see anything wrong with your work so far. If you keep it up, and explore a little more deeply into the community, I think you would be a fine admin. Please don't take my remarks as anything personal or critical of your work. I'd just like to see a little bit more of it, before I would recommend that you be given the extra responsibility of being an admin. It's good to meet you. Pedant 21:55, 2004 Dec 10 (UTC)

Thank for for message above, I appreciate it! I will do what you propose. Edwin 21:56, 10 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Sure thing. Feel free to ask for any help or advice you might need. I may not have the answers, but I might point you in the right direction. See you around. thanks for the thank you note. Pedant 22:02, 2004 Dec 10 (UTC)

I'd like to second that. We need more Lutheran Administrators in order to advance our "secret" Lutheran "agenda" (which involves coffee and liturgically-themed jello). -[[User:Aranel|Aranel ("Sarah")]] 01:59, 11 Dec 2004 (UTC)

American Lutheran Church

[edit]

http://www.elca.org/archives/churchbodykey.html note that the elca itself use TALC to refer to the 1960-87 The Amer Luth Church

Response: Please sign your feedback. The term "ALC" was used extensively during the pre-ELCA era. "TALC" is generally only used on charts in order to distinguish the pre-60's ALC from the pre-ELCA ALC that ceased to exist in 1988. Thanks. Edwin

Law and Gospel on the LCMS Page

[edit]

Please see the Talk:Lutheran_Church_-_Missouri_Synod, Law and Gospel. Thanks! Bob --CTSWyneken 02:37, 14 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Hi Edwin. Thanks for pitching in on the ELCA page! Just a quick question: you changed the part on the ordination of women from saying that the ELCA ordains women "unlike the other Lutheran denominations in the United States" to "unlike most other Lutheran denominations." I'm sure you're right on this, but I'm just curious what other American Lutheran denominations do ordain women. (I know the LCMS, WELS, and ELS don't; but maybe there are some tiny ones that do?) Also I noticed you pulled out the external links to the groups promoting and opposing a more accepting stance on homosexuality. Was that because you thought the groups should get their own wikipedia articles, or did you think the external links were inappropriate for other reasons? Again, thanks for the work on that page. User:Ropcat 21:07, 19 Feb 2005 (UTC)

The Lutheran Ministerium and Synod USA ordains women. The links werent inappropriate, but I intend to write full articles on these groups. EdwinHJ | Talk 02:45, 25 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Hi Edwin. I've never heard of the Lutheran Ministerium and Synod, so thanks for drawing that group to my attention. As for the ELCA internal groups, I'll be interested to see your articles on them. If you think of it, please drop me a note when you've put something up, as I'm eager to learn more. Best, User:Ropcat 06:19, 25 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Presbyterian Church USA and Presbyterian Church (USA)

[edit]

I'm confused by what has happened with Presbyterian Church USA and Presbyterian Church (USA) and how/why the latter article shows it is listed on Wikipedia:Votes for deletion but does not appear on that page, but does have a deletion subpage: Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/Presbyterian Church (USA). As near as I can figure, there were cut and paste moves made (which is a bad thing)--but I don't see why it should be listed for deletion. Can you shed any light on this? olderwiser 20:53, Dec 14, 2004 (UTC)

It was apparently flagged for deletion due to some POV issues, but they have seemingly been resolved. Edwin 14:50, 15 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Please add more info to this page if you can

I am trying to build up a more complete but still neutral page about Alliant Techsystems. MicahMN | Talk

I merge the Reform party of Minn with Indep party of minn because as you know it is the same party except for 5 years (1995-00) it was afflicated with the national reform party the info on the rpm page was basically the same as on the ipm page so it seem unnecessary to have two pages of basically the same info

Why do you refer to her (Laurie Coleman) as his current wife do you expect there to be a divorce soon? Plus do you speculate on other people ages?

Response: Please sign your comments. The 'current wife' remark should be stricken as you did, that is indeed better sounding. The age of a person is very appropriate for an encyclopedia entry. Since Mrs Coleman makes a point of hiding her age, that is worth noting. Thanks. Edwin 19:32, 6 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Arrested Development

[edit]

I didn't know this, but Gob on AD is actually G.O.B. which means "George Oscar Bluth II".

A suggestion for your user page

[edit]

Edwin: I have recently learned that most wikipedia users find it to be in better form to have your user page be written in the first person, rather than thrid person. As you will see, I have recently made that change myself. This is only a suggestion. Also, you can create a simple English version of your user page as well if you wish.
