Infobox - most gold medals - when two nations tie

[edit]

So, at the 2024 Summer Olympics medal table, two nations each won 40 gold medals. Discussion at Talk:2024 Summer Olympics medal table seems to be at an impasse, so I'm escalating this to the project level. In what order, and for what reason, should the two nations be listed?

  1.  China (40) and  United States (40), based on alphabetical order
  2.  United States (40) and  China (40), based on total medals
  3.  United States (40) and  China (40), based on silver medals
  4. Tie (40), see table, to avoid the issue
  5.  China (40) and  United States (40), for some other reason
  6.  United States (40) and  China (40), for some other reason

Hopefully more input can help us form a clear(er) consensus. —C.Fred (talk) 16:59, 8 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The primary discussion appears to be at Talk:2024 Summer Olympics medal table § Which country to list first in tie for "most gold medals", let's not start multiple discussions in multiple locations. Primefac (talk) 17:31, 8 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Article tagging

[edit]

How do articles show up at Wikipedia:WikiProject Olympics/New articles that have not been tagged with {{WikiProject Olympics}}? Asking in regard to Oscar Goodman (basketball). His article is tagged with {{WikiProject Basketball}} due to his extensive play in FIBA tournaments.-TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 12:49, 6 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
