Hi, and welcome to Wikipedia.

You know the line about not being able to see the forest for the trees? List of U.S. political families is about the forest. Look, for instance, at the Kennedy and Roosevelt entries. The short biographies you've been adding belong on entries for the specific individuals, with synopses on Baldwin, Hoar & Sherman family, and bare identification on the List. —wwoods 17:08, 27 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Baldwin

[edit]

Simeon Baldwin Chittenden, Henry Baldwin Harrison and John Brown Baldwin don't appear to have any close relation to the Sherman-Baldwin family.

Baldwin, Hoar & Sherman family has been proposed for deletion. Please see the article for details. NickelShoe 17:12, 20 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Bones article related

[edit]

In the Skull and Bones article, were you aware you changed the S&B 1931 of John Henry Heinz, II to "John Heinz" (his son), though its not really accurate that way and misleading? I see the "point" of the link it being the only available link right now, though its just not "kosher" I guess because John Heinz III is not SB as I indicated in a previous edit's notes. :-) A suggestion: a secondary link to his son after the original version, to clear that up? Just looking into your motivations for the change. Cheers, I'll have to come back and read your page. --ReSearcher 04:57, 13 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Bones article related reply

[edit]

My apology, and I assure you that the mistake was accidently. I had previously heard the John Kerry (S&B 1968) had married his Teresa Heinz after her husband (who was said to be bones as well) died. So the mistake was mine, but unintentional. However, I did eliminate Heinz altogether from S&B page, as his father was not a member of the US Congress, which is what that section was intended for. Sorry for the confusion

You can check my web blog for additional Bones information. http://inaaronsopinion.blogspot.com/

No apologies asked for or required. :-) Actually I think it is an important link to keep as John Heinz II (S&B, 1931) even if it is presently without a page. That is how we can tell people to write something at the link... Cheers, --ReSearcher 02:10, 14 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fair enough. I am doing research for Kris Millegan's next version of "Fleshing Out Skull & Bones. Due out in 2007.

How funny. I have exhanged email with him before. I'm Mark. Send him my best. Tell him to read and help perfect the text I placed in the Bones and Opium section. I'm sure it has some interesting points he is unaware of. --ReSearcher 02:17, 14 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It appears that much of that has been edited out of your posting.

Mary Gore Dean

[edit]

Hi. You deleted something I'd just added on List of United States political families without an edit summary. I had to assume your intent was that the personage Mary Gore Dean was not notable. I checked some sources and she isn't as notable as I remembered, so I decided to leave her out, but it would be very helpful and courteous to other editors if you would add edit summaries. I see you've been here a while, and I'm surprised you haven't experienced how helpful they are from the other side. --Dhartung | Talk 03:37, 3 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, but I just thought that it was obvious that she was not a political figure, and held no political office. As the page is for only political members of prominent US political families.

She should be mentioned on Wikipedia, and "Deborah Gore Dean, former HUD official convicted in a kickback scandal" would apply, but you should really include her HUD title and dates that she served in that position; otherwise it looks like your just trying to smear the Gore family. If that is your intent, you should include the information about about Mary Gore Dean (she is notable) Gore somewhere on Al Gore's page (perhaps), but she is not a political figure...anymore than Monica Lewinsky, Mary Meyer, Marilyn Monroe, Jennifer Flowers, Fawn Hall, Jennifer Fitzpatrick, etc, etc, etc.

Baldwin, Hoar & Sherman family

[edit]

I have limited energies to devote to Baldwin, Hoar & Sherman family, but it would be nice to figure out how to make it more accessible.
For example, I cannot figure out if all of Roger Shermans children are even shown on that page. This, over at Roosevelt_family has some appeal.
or Template_talk:Blackfamilytree#Dimensions
Even simply numbering the generations, perhaps in addition to

  • the non-character box would be an improvement.

What's your interest lately in the topic? -- Yellowdesk 05:36, 17 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I would be willing to do what ever is necessary, but I am not real familiar with how the Wiki formatting works.

I invite you to check this tiny working example. We'll see what comes of it, as I learn how to do this formatting. (I'd prefer not to make that page public, and will take out the link after a while.) PS. I think William T. Sherman is related to Roger Sherman by Roger's grandfather or great grandfather. More to come on that. -- Yellowdesk 17:04, 14 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for supplying dates on my draft of the family tree. Can you provide full list of citations to sources for these, so others, later on, cannot criticize these for being un-verifiable? Given how painful it is to edit these tables, I'm thinking that footnotes that are simple text, outside of the tree/table are the best way to go, or to have a text article for each family tree created, that provides the citations. -- Yellowdesk 06:36, 5 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Could you provide me an email address, or email me at aaron@aaronbaldwin.us so I can provide you with a Sherman Family document?
Done. -- Yellowdesk 03:47, 6 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Henry Hotchkiss Townshend, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Henry Hotchkiss Townshend seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Henry Hotchkiss Townshend, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. An article you created maybe deleted soon: Tools which can help you

[edit]

The article you created, Charles_C._Beaman maybe deleted from Wikipedia.

There is an ongoing debate about whether your article should be deleted here:

The faster your respond, the better chance the article you created can be saved. This is because deletion debates only stay open for a few days, and the first comments are usually the most important.

There are several tools and other editors who can help you keep the page from being deleted forever:

  1. You can list the page up for deletion on Article Rescue Squadron. If you need help listing your page, add a comment on the Article Rescue Squadron talk page.
  2. You can request a mentor to help explain to you all of the complex rules that editors use to get a page deleted, here: Wikipedia:Adopt-a-User. But don't wait for a mentor to respond on the deletion page.
  3. When try to delete a page, veteran editors love to use a lot of rule acronyms. Don't let these acronyms intimidate you.
Here is a list of your own acronyms you can use yourself: WP:Deletion debate acronyms which may support the page you created being kept.
Acronyms in deletion debates are sometimes incorrectly used, or ignore rules or exceptions.
  4. You can merge the article into a larger or better established article on the same topic.

If your page is deleted, you still have many options available. Good luck! travb (talk) 21:55, 31 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Charles Callahan Perkins

[edit]

Back in 2007 you made ten consecutive edits to the article Charles Callahan Perkins. You gave the source

"Charles Callahan Perkins."Dictionary of American Biography Base Set. American Council of Learned Societies, 1928-1936.

I have done some Google searches and it appears that some of the text also appears in copyrighted sources "There are tributes to Perkins by Robert C. Winthrop" and "Prior to 1850, Perkins had proposed an art museum for Boston but had found the plan premature"

I also notice that you included this source at the same time www.famousamericans.net/charlescallahanperkins/ (Museum of History >> Hall of North and South Americans >> Charles Callahan Perkins)

Can you please provide a link to the original copyright expired volume from which you obtained the text. If not then the text will have to be deleted. -- PBS (talk) 08:32, 14 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
