Original name of county?
[edit]Was the county really named for Andrew Jackson (then just 34 years old) when it was first established in 1801? Did it have a different original name? —Orlady (talk) 01:07, 2 November 2008 (UTC)
- I can't find a single source that states otherwise, at least on the web. The TEHC article says it was founded in 1801 and named after Andrew Jackson (although the author erroneously states that Jackson County, Georgia was also named for Andrew Jackson). Jackson was very popular with certain statewide political factions as early as the 1790s. Bms4880 (talk) 04:05, 2 November 2008 (UTC)
