Would we trust politicians to dictate the laws of science?
- No, but we can trust the people to collaborate and work toward establishing what general knowledge is. Wikipedia is a democratic meritocracy. Ideas that aren't fact normally get weeded out quickly. It's not just a matter of majority rule without any thinking, but a majority (usually a consensus) proving its position. -- Stevietheman 03:39, 11 Jul 2004 (UTC)
- Thanks for your feedback Stevietheman. I am not convinced that consensus brings about truth or reason. A good example is Galileo Galilei. I am also not convinced that Wikipedia represents a working model of a democratic meritocracy.
