W. A. Poucher's guide books
[edit]Aren't his guidebooks somewhat dated, even if still useful? Rwood128 (talk) 18:14, 8 June 2014 (UTC)
Scrambling / Alpine scrambling
[edit]I dispute that scrambling is synonymous with 'alpine scrambling', and so does not belong as bolded text in the lead. A redirect from Alpine scrambling to this article is fine, however. I propose to remove "(also known as alpine scrambling") from the lead, as I assert that it is just one geographical aspect of scrambling, much of which can occur in low-level and non-alpine areas. There are no citations given which show this term is commonly regarded as an alternative names. (My WP:COI is that I have done a huge amount of scrambling on high altitude mountains in the Alps, but have also done much scrambling only a few hundred metres above sea-level. Both are scrambling activities; one is definitely not 'alpine scrambling'). Nick Moyes (talk) 00:26, 29 December 2020 (UTC)
Vía Ferrata
[edit]Any legitimate citation to support the inclusion of vía ferratas (or any route with fixed hardware or artificially developed paths) under “scrambles”? It is my understanding that VFs are not categorized as scrambles and have their own unique class of “climbing”. 2601:280:4000:3D:5875:1C35:4A6B:D342 (talk) 04:08, 25 July 2023 (UTC)
