GA Review

[edit]
This review is transcluded from Talk:Into the Fire (album)/GA1. The edit link for this section can be used to add comments to the review.

This article needs more work before it is ready to be promoted to GA. I did quite a bit of copyediting, but I strongly recommend getting a member of the Albums Wikiproject to look at it and gives some feedback. There is a lot of repetition and inconsistency, and I didn't feel like there was much depth to the information provided. A few recommendations to help with the improvements are below:

  1. There seems to be some inconsistency. The lead says that the album was recorded at Little Mountain Sound Studios, but the "Recording and production" section says that it was recorded in a studio set up in Adams' house. Reckless was recorded in LMS Studios; is there some confusion there? Done
  2. In the "Recording and Production" section: "They used the dining room, bathroom and bedroom to isolate the different instruments." Who are "they"? The band? Done
  3. Based on the other album articles that I've reviewed in the past, the title of the album should be italicized when it is used in the text. Done
  4. Again, there is more inconsistency. If "Hearts on Fire" was released in the summer of 1986, how could it have been released worldwide in March 1987? Done
  5. The second half of this sentence is confusing: "The first three singles charted on the Billboard Hot 100, while only peaking on the top fifty." Done
  6. The "Songs" section says that "Heat of the Night" reached number six on the Billboard Hot 100. The "Release and reception" section says that it reached the top fifty. Done
  7. There is inconsistency in the capitalization of Mainstream Rock Tracks. Done
  8. The show is not called the David Letterman Show. It should also be wikilinked. Done
  9. If he played in Wembley Stadium, would that have been the first tour stop in the UK? Done
  10. "The European tour continues and Reckless’ achieves gold status in Sweden and ‘Into The Fire reached gold in Switzerland." This sentence doesn't seem to fit, and it uses the wrong verb tense. Done
  11. "Into the Fire ended up being certified platinum with sales over 100,000 copies sold." also seems out of place in the tour section. Done
  12. "Tommy Mandel joins Adams backing band." when? and why in the present tense? Done
  13. If the European leg of the tour ended in Dublin, how could he have later played in Berlin and Locarno? Done
  14. The "Tour" section seems really crowded and busy. It reads as a collection of information thrown together in some places. Copyediting would help fix up the choppy sentences, and multiple paragraphs might split it up nicely. Done Think I've fixed it
  15. The "Release and reception" section seemed like it was just repeated from the "Songs" section. Critical reviews would be much more useful than repeated information.  Done Fixed the problems with repeated info
  16. A description of songs might also be nice. Done

I will place this review on hold for seven days to allow for these concerns to be addressed and/or discussed. Any comments or questions can be left here, as I have this page on my watchlist. Best wishes, GaryColemanFan (talk) 23:16, 5 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There are still a few things that need to be done. From a quick glance, the Tour section is still one confusing paragraph (and the verb tense is in consistent, as most is in the past tense, but some is in the present tense and still other parts are in the conditional tense). The David Letterman Show was a radio show that existed only in 1980, so I doubt that it was part of Adams's tour in 1987. Most importantly, the article needs a good copyedit by a third party before it's ready for me to go through it again. I strongly recommend asking someone at the Albums wikiproject or someone familiar with the format of album articles. GaryColemanFan (talk) 20:47, 7 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The whole Tour section uses one reference, the reliability of which Be Black Hole Sun has not been able to establish (see Talk:Heaven_(song)/GA2). Don't let him off the hook for it. —Zeagler (talk) 12:57, 10 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
In addition, the information about the technical personnel should be added to the Personnel section. It can be found at http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=10:3ifexq95ldhe~T2. GaryColemanFan (talk) 15:30, 8 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It has been over a week, and there are still some fairly serious concerns with the article. The prose is poor in several places (run-on sentences, constant changes in verb tense, and distracting spelling errors such as "startet"). I get the impression that the fixes that have been made were done in haste with more focus on checking something off than on improving the article. Some concerns were checked off without actually addressing the problem (the italicization; the mainstream rock tracks, which is actually less consistent now; and the tour paragraph). The reliability of the skolarbete page still needs to be proven, and the technical personnel need to be added to the "Personnel" section. The article still needs quite a bit of work, and I strongly recommend placing it for peer review before renominating it. Best wishes for your future work with the article, and I hope to see it listed as a GA some day. I hope you have found my suggestions helpful. The exact location of the Anton Corbijn cover photograph needs to be added. Does anyone know where it is shot? 10:11, 27 October 2010 (CET) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.168.61.173 (talk)

The comment(s) below were originally left at Talk:Into the Fire (album)/Comments, and are posted here for posterity. Following several discussions in past years, these subpages are now deprecated. The comments may be irrelevant or outdated; if so, please feel free to remove this section.

This article lacks information in the personnel section on technical personnel. This information is necessary in order for the album to be rated "B" class by WikiProject album. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 15:14, 8 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
