No matter what the attention-seeking author says, her Hermione is a white, pale woman, not a black woman with frizzy black hair. Having a "white face" does in fact render you caucasian, as people with high does of melanin in their skin (a black woman) would retain the colour in the skin. Numerous mentions also say "pink in the face" or like
a "half a panda" when bruised. Mentioning fan art is totally pointless and misleading, as it holds no canonical weight. However, all official illustrations of Hermione in HP media depict her as white (including Rowling's own). She also clearly isn't oriental either. 2.98.183.194 (talk) 09:25, 22 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It's important to recognize that artistic interpretation allows for diverse representations of characters. While the author's vision may be influential, individual readers may form their own mental images. Embracing various interpretations enriches the narrative experience and fosters inclusivity within the fan community. Ultimately, the essence of Hermione's character transcends physical attributes, emphasizing her intelligence, courage, and loyalty, which remain universal regardless of visual depictions. Should a list of Hermione's relatives be included in the template?
Hi! I have noticed that in pages like Ron Weasley and Ginny Weasley, a full list of their relatives is included in the template. I tried to add a list to Hermione's template, but the edit was reverted. Do you guys think Hermione's template should have a list of relatives? Thanks! CallieCrewmanAuthor (talk) 15:12, 6 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The reversion was correct. We are meant to include relevant relationships, not all relationships we can name, and we must also try to be concise if we can. Hermione is married with Ron for the epilogue only and her "in-law" relationship with all the Weasleys isn't depicted in the films or books. Besides, this is all implied already by including Ron as her husband. Those other articles you bring up, Ron Weasley and Ginny Weasley, also have too many unnecessary relationships, such as including James and Lily Potter as Ginnys' father and mother-in-law when they died before she was even born. I wouldn't include their nephews and nieces either for similar reasons. The only one of these in-law family relationships I would keep is maybe Harry as Ron's brother-in-law as that plays a more relevant role in the later books and films. For Hermione, only the husband and children is enough. The only reason Ron and Ginny include so many family members is because they have a lot of siblings. —El Millo (talk) 17:35, 7 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
In this page you must change Hermione Granger's spouse to Harry Potter because the author J.K Rowling said that she made a mistake and this must change.
Hi folks! I just wanted to let you know that I'm doing a copyedit of this page. I might do the whole page, or I might not. I'm defining copyediting as:
Improving grammar and syntax
Minor rewrites of certain sections
Small amounts of trimming
Fact-checking by reading through certain cited sources
Correcting any mistakes in citations (such as missing info, dead URL or outdated formatting)
I wanted to give you a heads-up, so you know my intentions and aren't surprised by my many edits. I will be careful to limit the number of edits per day, to give everyone a chance to review them. If ever I'm going too fast, please don't hesitate to let me know. I will propose edits on the talk page that are larger or don't fall into the categories above. It makes me happy to see that lots of work has been put into this page already! Wafflewombat (talk) 22:38, 18 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for putting so much work into this page (and others!).
I just wanted to come back to you regarding the edits I made on the Hermione Granger and Harry Potter pages pertaining to Rowling's comments in 2014. As I already stated in the edits, none of the articles that reported on the Wonderland interview initially directly quoted Rowling saying that Hermione and Harry should have ended up together. And the full interview further gives no doubt that this is not what she said; yet no news organization that had mistakenly said that she thought Harry and Hermione should be together backtracked on their initial claims. Only The Guardian came closest to this when they reported on the full interview, and even they framed it as "Rowling backtracking", rather than what actually happened, which was them (and other news organizations) making a mistake. [1] Here's a link to fuller excerpts of the interview [2]
I'm happy to write up a more accurate explanation of her comments for this article, highlighting that Rowling said that "in some ways" Harry was a better fit compared to Ron, and saying that Rowling thought that "with a bit of counseling" Ron and Hermione would probably be all right. However, I would seriously question the relevance of this being in the Harry Potter article, seeing that the interview itself was only ever about Hermione (and Ron to a lesser extent). Harry and especially Ginny were not mentioned. Vhstef (talk) 09:18, 24 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for this message. I read the full interview here and it seems you are correct. However, despite my best efforts, I cannot find the full interview through a reliable source. All the websites that post the full transcript are fan sites or Reddit. Have you been able to find it through a reliable source? Wafflewombat (talk) 14:02, 24 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I could only find it on Hypable, a general fandom news source, which I believe was the first outlet to break the news of the real interview.[3] (I used web.archive as I cannot access hypable.com for some reason.) I think it is a more reliable source, especially as it includes more of the interview. so I do think this should be enough. In terms of primary sources I definitely remember seeing it in the actual online version of the Wonderland magazine (which I believe was a PDF), but I don't remember how I tracked it down, and it doesn't come up when I do a Google search, unfortunately. I'll try searching for it, but in the meantime I think the Hypable source is OK. Vhstef (talk) 19:09, 24 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds good. I'm glad you made me aware of the mistake with the interview! I tried to find a PDF of Wonderland as well, but to no avail. I put the Hypable link in the Further Reading section on the Hermione page so we don't lose it. Wafflewombat (talk) 19:19, 24 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
