Is there any connection (other than having the same founder) to the Carnegie Institute in Pittsburgh (of the Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh, no relation to the Carnegie Institute of Technology)?

To the best of my knowledge, there is no connection. Why Carnegie would have chosen two such similar names eludes me. -Willmcw 04:23, May 11, 2005 (UTC)
I misread your question. I'm not familiar with the Carnegie Institute in Pittsburgh, though I'd be surprized if there was a connection. This Carnegie institution funds big science projects. -Willmcw 07:04, May 11, 2005 (UTC)

Carnegie Institution of Science

[edit]

I see the CIW has changed its logo to Carnegie Institution for Science, but it is nowhere else on the CIW website. In fact, all the pages have a footer with Carnegie Institution of Washington. There is a Sept. 19 press release about the new website and logo, but no mention of an official name change. Either the recent changes in the Wiki entry are overreaching, or the name change has been bungled and failed to "identify who we are clearly and concisely." Can anyone with first hand knowledge fix one or the other?Phytism (talk) 01:44, 29 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Seed funding

[edit]

How much money was initially provided? It seems like there's a large chunk of history missing. -- Beland (talk) 22:04, 14 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
