Notability
[edit]I added some references that should help back up its notability, specifically its ACP awards and mentions and ratings as a media source. Should this be enough? Evan7257 16:28, 13 April 2007 (UTC)
- These may help a little, and I think your references increase the journal's notability to "borderline". I would comment on the links as follows:
- mondotimes.com is a directory listing, fails WP:N
- media.rice.edu is a press release, fails WP:N
- ACP award may confer marginal notability, but probably insufficient in the absence of other claims
- uh.edu article - Very trivial mention : article is about Ken Hatfield's comments about homosexuality, fails WP:N
- spj.org award - appears to be a minor award: first place for "Editorial Cartooning"
- Steve Jackson bio - Article lacks independence, and is tantamount to WP:SELF, is not from reliable source. Are there any other notable alumni?
- Rice Women article - article is reprint of the item referred to in the wiki article, tantamount to WP:SELF, and does not show third party source confirming its controversy
- Back page article - article fails WP:SELF, and does not show independent source confirming its controversy

Official student newspapers of major universities are notable. Not all the sources given in the article are of the best quality, and I agree with the spirit of most of Ohconfucius's comments, inasmuch as they pertain to the content, but this paper is notable. Savidan 08:24, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Backpage.jpg
[edit]Image:Backpage.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Disambiguation Page
[edit]I'm moving for a we have a disambig page as although the "rice Thresher" newspaper may be of local or even national importance in the US- the newspaper's namesake is far more important- a globally employed agricultural machine which has drastically reduced the manual labour required to harvest rice. Also- I am sure we can liink the two articles in some wayStarstylers (talk) 12:46, 9 May 2009 (UTC)
