Longest reign
[edit]Christian IV was elected as King when he was 11, but was Coronated when he was 19. This means that Queen Margrethe II has the longest reign. TheManTheyCallAdam (talk) 20:54, 31 December 2023 (UTC)
- He was@ still king during those eight years, even if he hadn't had his coronation yet. 2601:249:9301:D570:E4A5:9280:A058:DF7D (talk) 00:20, 4 January 2024 (UTC)
- He was chosen as king, but not didn't reign as he was too young. TheManTheyCallAdam (talk) 01:43, 9 January 2024 (UTC)
- He did reign as king, no matter what his age. Just had his royal duties carried out by a regency, during his minority. GoodDay (talk) 04:46, 14 January 2024 (UTC)
- He was point as king, but was not installed as king until he was 19. A temporary government was established until his Coronation. TheManTheyCallAdam (talk) 02:03, 9 January 2024 (UTC)
- He became king at the at age 11, even though he didn't assume his monarchial duties until age 19. No different then when Britain's George III became permanently incapacitated in 1811 & a regent filled in for the rest of his reign. George III remained king until his death in 1820. GoodDay (talk) 04:46, 14 January 2024 (UTC)
- He is the longest sitting monarch but not the longest reigning monarch TheManTheyCallAdam (talk) 15:50, 25 January 2024 (UTC)
- A monarch reigns regardless of age and whether or not they are represented by an regent. --SergeWoodzing (talk) 14:39, 26 January 2024 (UTC)

Grammaticality: “there” or “it”?
[edit]The current article contains:
”and then there is not far to harassment and rougher methods”
I wonder if that is grammatical, and whether it would instead have to be e.g.:
”and then it is not far to harassment and rougher methods”Redav (talk) 12:57, 14 January 2024 (UTC)
Second longest reigning Danish monarch
[edit]I would think being the second longest reigning monarch in Danish history, would be more notable then longest reigning Queen regnant... After all, there wasn't that many Danish queen regnants. GoodDay (talk) 08:23, 15 January 2024 (UTC)
- Why not include both? I also think, if its to be noted shes the second longest reigning monarch, it should also be noted who the longest it. EmilySarah99 (talk) 10:09, 15 January 2024 (UTC)
- There wasn't enough queen regnants in Danish history, to make her being the longest reigned, notable. GoodDay (talk) 22:05, 16 January 2024 (UTC)
- Yes, that makes sense now. EmilySarah99 (talk) 07:42, 17 January 2024 (UTC)

No native English speaker would write "She was the second-longest reigning monarch in Danish history, as well as the longest-reigning enthroned Danish monarch." It reads as nonsensical because the longest-reigning monarch was also enthroned. It's self-contradictory. No ordinary reader will be able to understand why the same person is both the second-longest and the longest-reigning monarch. DrKay (talk) 17:47, 16 January 2024 (UTC)
- Yes, that indeed is a very confusing sentence. Keivan.fTalk 20:55, 16 January 2024 (UTC)
- Indeed, the "...also enthroned" bit, would read extremely odd. I suspect, who ever put that in (thankfully it was removed) did so, because Christian IV had a regency, during his first eight years as Danish monarch & they mistakenly thought a regency meant a monarch wasn't enthroned. Title/Style
[edit]The article does not make clear how she is CURRENTLY titled and styled. I think this is good information for a general reader. Experts may just "know" it but Wikipedia (being an encyclopedia) should have this information clearly stated. She does not even have a section for her list of titles/styles with dates, as other royals do. Why? Geekyroyalaficionado (talk) 16:06, 16 January 2024 (UTC)
- @Geekyroyalaficionado: I would encourage you to make add such a listing. I was just confused today since I saw Danmarks Radio referring to her as queen. Apparently it is correct to do so. --Ysangkok (talk) 12:29, 26 April 2024 (UTC)
