Welcome to my user page. Feel free to improve this page. I enjoy contributing to Wikipedia and other Wikimedia projects, which I first starting doing on 15 May 2004. I registered on 4 July 2004. Some pre-registration edits: 68.64.7.68

I have at least three ancestors with Wikipedia articles: William Bradford (governor), Stephen Hopkins (merchant), and Constance Hopkins. (probably more)

Opinions

[edit]
  • 2011-09-04 Andrew G. West performed unethical research.
  • 2011-02-09 When looking at a diff of changes to several separate paragraphs, there should be an option to revert just the change to one paragraph.
  • 2010-10-02 There needs to be a search just for each article's history. This would allow you to find when certain content was added or went missing.
  • Most TV episode lists should include fair use screenshots.
  • Ads on Wikipedia: I don't want ads on Wikipedia unless donations can't cover costs, but I'm curious as to how much money can be generated from 24 hours of Google text ads placed under the interlanguage links.

Donations

[edit]

Wikipedia and other Wikimedia Foundation projects are valuable resources, but it takes more than volunteers to keep it running. See where the money goes. But the quick staffing numbers increase makes me nervous. I have stopped donating. 36.7 million dollars to be granted to other orgs in FY 21-22...

Qualifications / areas of expertise

[edit]

I acquired a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Mississippi State University in 1998 and have been in the United States Air Force since 2001.

I'm also generally interested in history, geography, etc.

USS Johnston
USS Johnston was a Fletcher-class destroyer built for the United States Navy during World War II. She was named after Lieutenant John V. Johnston, a navy officer during the American Civil War. The ship was laid down in May 1942 and was launched in March 1943, entering active duty later that year as part of the US Pacific Fleet. Johnston provided naval gunfire support for American ground forces during the Gilbert and Marshall Islands campaign in 1944 and again, after three months of patrol and escort duty in the Solomon Islands, during the recapture of Guam in July. Thereafter, Johnston was tasked with escorting escort carriers during the Mariana and Palau Islands campaign and the liberation of the Philippines. On 25 October 1944, Johnston and various other ships were engaged by a large Imperial Japanese Navy flotilla, in what became known as the Battle off Samar. After engaging several Japanese capital ships and a destroyer squadron, Johnston was sunk with 187 dead. Johnston's wreck was discovered in 2019, and at a depth of more than 20,000 feet (6,100 m) below the surface, is one of the deepest shipwrecks ever surveyed. This photograph shows Johnston in Seattle in October 1943.Photograph credit: unidentified US Navy photographer; restored by Adam Cuerden and Cobatfor
How to see a list of the pages in a namespace

To see a list of all of the pages in a namespace (the main namespace has 6,901,016 articles, plus millions of disambiguation pages and redirects), click on Special pages in the toolbox menu on the left side-bar of your screen. At the top of the list that appears is the entry All pages. Click on that, and a pull down menu (to select a namespace) and a search box for entering a starting pagename appears. The namespace listing will start at whatever spelling you place in the searchbox.

To get a list of only pages starting with a particular string of characters, click on All pages with prefix instead.

To access these pages by link, use [[Special:AllPages]] and [[Special:PrefixIndex]].
