Dussehra?

[edit]

Why is this article not titled Dussehra? That's how most people know it. Mooshika1 (talk) 14:26, 9 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Correct Date

[edit]

The second line currently says "It is observed on the tenth day of the month of Ashvin, the seventh in the Hindu Luni-Solar Calendar.". However, that is not completely correct for all years. That rule appears to be only correct for Bengal Vijayadashami, as described at https://www.drikpanchang.com/festivals/vijayadashami/bengal/vijayadashami-date-time.html . The link describes the difference as "Most Indian states observe Vijayadashami based on Muhurata and prefer the day when there is suitable combination of Tithi and Nakshatra during afternoon. Many religious books including Purana suggest to observe Vijayadashami after considering appropriate Muhurata.". However, it is unclear how to explain that for the wikipedia page as a Hindu calendar rule. The problem appears for the Gregorian year 2026 with Bengal Vijayadashami having the date 2026-10-21 while Vijayadashami has the date 2026-10-20. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.113.18.65 (talk) 19:35, 19 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
