Welcome, newcomer!
Here are some useful tips to ease you into the Wikipedia experience:
- First, take a look at the Wikipedia Tutorial, and perhaps dabble a bit in the test area.
- When you have some free time, take a look at the Manual of Style and Policies and Guidelines. They can come in very handy!
- Remember to use a neutral point of view!
- If you need any help, feel free to post a question at the Help Desk
- Explore, be bold in editing pages, and, most importantly, have fun!
Also, here are some odds and ends that I find useful from time to time:
- Wikipedia:Policy Library
- Wikipedia:Utilities
- Wikipedia:Cite your sources
- Wikipedia:Verifiability
- Wikipedia:Wikiquette
- Wikipedia:Civility
- Wikipedia:Conflict resolution
- Wikipedia:Brilliant prose
- Wikipedia:Pages needing attention
- Wikipedia:Peer review
- Wikipedia:Bad jokes and other deleted nonsense
- Wikipedia:Village pump
- Wikipedia:Boilerplate text

New template
[edit]Hi, I just wanted to let you know about a handy new template I created.
{{Canadabio|ID=}} expands to:
*[http://www.biographi.ca/EN/ShowBio.asp?BioId={{{ID}}} Biography at the ''Canadian Dictionary of Biography Online'']
You can use it with subst: to avoid the small server hit associated with templates. P.S. thanks for the Trial of Louis Riel article! Fawcett5 16:01, 6 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Louis Riel again
[edit]Hi Christine, just a quick heads up that Louis Riel has been scheduled for the front page! The article will appear on May 13. We'll have to keep an especially vigilant watch for vandalism that day and for maybe a day or two following. Thanks for your many contributions, and congratulations! Cheers, Fawcett5 13:43, 3 May 2005 (UTC)
Northwest Territories Act of 1880
[edit]Christie, its nice to have a real historian around here... thanks for clarifying. Fawcett5 15:41, 7 May 2005 (UTC)
Image copyright
[edit]Thank you for uploading Image:St.CatherineofAlexandria.jpg and for stating the source. However, its copyright status is unclear, so it may have to be deleted. If it is open content or public domain, please give proof of this on the image page. If the image is fair use, please provide a rationale. Thank you.
- Christie, I've taken care of this (and congratulations by the way, James told me your news). Since its from the 14th century, I somehow doubt that copyright is much of a concern. Fawcett5 21:11, 2 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Thanks Fawcett!! I'm in the land of dial-up internet this week so can't check in very much. Hopefully I'll be back to Wiki-ing next week. CWood 20:29, 3 Jun 2005 (UTC)

About Rocky View and Calgary Region related articles
[edit]Hello CWood, I hope my message reaches you. I am totally new to Wikipedia (started with article entries/enhancements on Monday, May 8th)... Thank you for the edits and changes to the information I've worked on to date. I'm getting the hang of things as I see other articles, edits and contributions. Your expertise and commitment to quality Wikipedia articles is much appreciated! Cheers! Economicdevelopment 12:26, 12 May 2006
Thanks

Red River Frame, needs cited sources
[edit]I came across the Red River Frame article you had created and found it to be an interesting stub. Unfortunately, there were no cited sources in the article and I was therefore tempted to nominate it for deletion. If you can find some citations to support the content, even one, it would be greatly appreciated. Alan.ca 09:12, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
Thank you for your additions on this article to help bring it to feature article status. Do you know of other editors who worked on this article, to let them know....
Louis Riel has been nominated for a featured article review. Articles are typically reviewed for two weeks. Please leave your comments and help us to return the article to featured quality. If concerns are not addressed during the review period, articles are moved onto the Featured Article Removal Candidates list for a further period, where editors may declare "Keep" or "Remove" the article from featured status. The instructions for the review process are here. Reviewers' concerns are here. I am in the process of adding inline citations to help the review process...Can you also help out..? Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
